Colombo dansal given clean bill of health

All dansal within the Colombo city limits adhered to the hygienic standards stipulated by the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC).

CMC Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr Prasad Kariyawasam said that 106 dansal which were registered in the Colombo city were checked for hygiene levels in food and drinks that were served in them.

"These steps were taken to avoid health risks and various other situations that may have arisen as seen in the past with regard to the dansal," he said.

He said that strict instructions were given this time around as to the manner in which dansal were to be maintained. Advice were given to cover the side of the dansal open to the road, to use purified utensils, to use water from the main line, to provide boiled water as drinking water and to have people who are in good health when serving food.

"This is the third time that we have conducted these raids," he said. Samples have been collected from all the dansal in the Colombo city. The raids will continue today as well.
