Dilshan, Lekha best shuttlers

Dilshan Kariyawasam of Ananda College, Colombo and H D Lekha Dilshani of Our Lady of Victories Convent, Moratuwa was adjudged as the Most Outstanding School Badminton players of the the year 2010 to receive the DSI-AVI Schools' Badminton Colors. The awards ceremony was held at the Kularatne Hall, Ananda College recently. Sri Lanka Schools' Badminton Association (SLSBA) in association with D Samson & Sons (Pvt) Ltd organized this annual event with the blessings of Sri Lanka Badminton Association to give recognition to schools' shuttllers.

Awards were considered on those who excelled in Age category tournaments, Junior Nationals, National Schools' tournament and International tournaments during the year 2010. SLSBA's effort to appreciate School Badminton coaches, Masters in charge and Zonal co-ordinators by presenting awards was a remarkable achievement at the ceremony. It was great to see them dedicate time and energy to uplift the sport. More than 300 budding shuttlers received awards for their performances and the impact of such assessment will greatly support in making future national and International champions. The past Committee Members of the SLSBA was also felicitated at the colors ceremony.

Western Province Deputy Education Director Upali Amarathunga was the Special Guest at the award ceremony.

Addressing the gathering on behalf of the sponsors, General Manager Marketing DSI, Rohan Somawansa praised the organizers for a well organized show they have put on. He further revealed their willingness to work on a five-year plan with SLSBA to develop school badminton.
