Batticaloa remembers tsunami victims

The 2004 tsunami disaster was commemorated by the people in the
Batticaloa District yesterday. People gathered in front of commemorative
statues of those who died in the disaster and paid their respects.
White flags could also be seen in different places in the district.
Around 2,800 persons in the Batticaloa District died while 6,000
disappeared in the catastrophe. |
