Carbon credits for hydro project

The Adavikanda mini hydro power project in Kuruwita Ratnapura has been registered as a Clean Development Project (CDM project) under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

This project has an installed capacity of 6.5 megawatts and developed by Alternate Power Systems (Pvt) Ltd, a BOI approved Company, established for the development of the Adavikanda Mini Hydro Power Project.

The project construction began in January 2008 and the project was commissioned in September 2009.
