Facelift for Narahenpita Economic Centre

Plans are underway to reorganize the Narahenpita Dedicated Economic Centre to attract more people.

Consumer Affairs Minister Johnston Fernando instructed Cooperatives Director Mohamed Shakeer to reorganize the centre after a surprise visit to the Narahenpita Economic Centre Friday. The Minister instructed to reopen all stalls closed temporarily or hand them over to vendors willing to operate them.

The Minister had expressed his disappointment about the cleanliness of the economic centre. He instructed officials to immediately clean the premises.

The Centre's Security will be taken over by the Sathosa Security Service from this week on the Minister's directive.

The Minister urged vendors to make their businesses competitive.

The Minister observed that there was a severe shortage of vegetables and urged the officials not to have any shortages in the future.
