Eheliyagoda PS goes well with hard waste

The Eheliyagoda Pradeshiya Sabha and Eheliyagoda medical officer of health launched a project to collect hard waste that do not decay parallel to fertilizer manufacturing process from garbage.


This newly designed compost container being supplied for government institutions by the PS.

The PS pocesses a large store full of solid waste such as pieces of glass, empty bottles, tyres, plastic containers, bulbs, tube-lights, empty tins, coconut shells as well as pieces of iron and aluminium utensils. Eheliyagoda PS Chairman Sarath Sandanaike told the Daily News that the PS possesses sorted out solid waste worth more than Rs. 500,000.

In keeping with the Dengue Prevention program, a series of garbage collecting centres were established in villages and garbage will be collected daily by tractors to be transported to garbage recycling centre established in Kohiladeniya.
