The Government has declared Friday, April 9, the day after the
election as a Public and Bank Holiday, a senior official of the Public
Administration and Home Affairs Ministry told the Daily News yesterday.
Labour Minister Athauda Seneviratne has requested Heads of all State
Corporations, Statutory Boards and all other employers to grant leave to
all their employees on April 9.
