Corporate response to sustainability insufficient - ACCA

The corporate responses to sustainability is still insufficient and business leaders need to change this, ACCA Sri Lanka President Nandika Buddhipala said.

He was speaking at the Annual ACCA Sustainability Reporting Awards which was held yesterday.

"The corporate responses to sustainability is still insufficient. We urge our business leaders to make the difference and commit to a sustainable agenda to the institutions that they lead," he said.

He said the effort of the competitors to address the concerns of the stakeholders with regard to long-term sustainability against short-term financial success and to report on social environmental and economical concerns of their respective companies are commendable in the context of during financial constrains confront them.

Hatton National Bank, DIMO and HNB Assurance emerged winners in the large, medium and small categories with Chemanex and Union Assurance coming in as runners-up in the small and medium categories respectively.

The large category saw Ceylon Tobacco Company and John Keells Holdings adjudged as joint runners-up.
