President directs probe into lapses in school test papers

President Mahinda Rajapaksa has directed Education Minister Susil Premajayantha to conduct investigations at Provincial and Zonal level into the problems which had cropped up in conducting second term tests in schools on Zonal basis and submit a report to him.

The Education Ministry said acting on this directive, the Ministry has already launched investigations at zonal level to look into various problems which have cropped up. Once information was gathered, a full report would be formulated for submission to the President.

The Ministry has already appointed a committee chaired by National Institute of Education Director General Prof. Lal Perera to devise a foolproof system of conducting term tests.

Once an observation report is submitted by this committee in two weeks a firm decision would be taken by the Ministry on conducting tests without hassle.
