Scholarships from China for Lanka


Ports, Aviation and Irrigation and Water Management Minister Chamal Rajapaksa with China’s Deputy Transport Minister Gao Hongfeng.

The Government of China will initiate a program to award scholarships to employees engaged in Ports and Aviation to provide further training.

Ten employees in the local field of ports and aviation will be awarded an opportunity to go to China and study in the related field.

Scholarships are granted to seven employees of ports and three employees of aviation. Deputy Transport Minister of China Gao Hongfeng and Ports, Aviation and Irrigation and Water Management Minister Chamal Rajapaksa had a discussion regarding this at a meeting at the Ports and Aviation Ministry.

They also discussed the second phase of the construction work of the Port of Hambantota and declared that the Government of China is ready to assist the construction of Phase two of the Port of Hambantota.
