Massive 218 run win for Kegalle Dist

Kegalle District scored an easy 218 run win over Nuwara Eliya District in their Sri Lanka Cricket's under 19 inter district cricket tournament match played at Prison Grounds, Pallekele yesterday.

Kavin Galdeniya who stroked an elegant 112 with 16 fours and 3 sixes became the first centurion in the tournament from the Central Region.

He was well supported by Roshan Weerasinghe who scored 75 with 12 fours and a six.

Thus the duo helped Kegalle District to total 315 for 9. This was also the only occasion when a district side had exceeded the 300 run mark in this year's tournament.

When Nuwara Eliya district batted they found it difficult to cope with the off spin of Malinga Gunaratne who took 6 for 34 to out them for 97 all out. Left arm spinner Roshan Weerasinghe took 2 for 14.

Kegalle district 315 for 9 wickets in 50 overs (Chaluka Weerasinghe 32, Roshan Weerasinghe 75, Kavin Galdeniya 112, C. Denipitiya 10, D. Lecamge 28, Nuwan Ranatunga 2 for 54, Lakmal Chathuranga 3 for 51)
