Feeding IDPs

The Chefs Guild of Lanka (CGL) in association with the Lanka Jatika Sarvodaya Shramadana Sangamaya (Inc.) will organise a feeding program initially for 10,000 IDPs housed on 5 blocks at Menik Farm in Settikulam, Vavuniya District, Northern Province. Each block houses 2,000 IDPs.

The program comprises 30,000 food packs per day to include Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner for 10,000 IDPs per meal.

The project will also include a cookery training component for 150 IDP youth, both boys and girls living at Zone 2. The knowledge and experience shared by 5 chefs of the Chefs Guild of Lanka with the IDP youth, will empower them to cook for themselves and later for others.

Some hotels have been offered to provide the necessary linen, crockery and cutlery to support the program.

Dry rations required for the feeding program will be provided by the World Food Program (WFP).
