New area director at Taj Hotels
Vimal Seth has taken over as the new Area Director for Taj Hotels,
(Sri Lanka) & General Manager, Taj Samudra Colombo.
Seth brings a wealth of 33 years of experience spanning key Indian
metros from Mumbai to Mangalore, across both luxury & business hotels.
His last tenure was in the neighbouring island of Maldives managing the
top class Taj leisure property Taj Coral Reef Maldives. Here, he was
instrumental in recording the highest revenue growth in the history of
An MBA holder in Chemical Engineering Seth amusingly stumbled upon
this career line when the Taj sought his expertise in one of its
specialized areas. He then went on to rise sharply to higher ranks in
the most prestigious hotel chain in India.
He is confident of the much awaited comeback of the glory days of
tourism in Sri Lanka - "With Sri Lanka's unmatchable natural beauty from
idyllic beaches to stunning hilltops coupled with solid infrastructure
and the unmistakable warmth of her people, peace in this island nation
can only equate to exponential growth in tourism".
Speaking on plans for the three hotels in Sri Lanka, Vimal Seth is
certain that the ongoing enhancements at Taj Exotica, Bentota and Taj
Airport Gardens, Seeduwa are in-keeping with the ever evolving changes
of today's global traveller and will gear these hotels for the expected
influx of tourists from around the world. "We have already seen much
product upgradation at the Taj Samudra which includes the swank new
coffee shop, super-luxurious Executive rooms and the new fitness centre
& poolside, all of which have now been elevated to International
standards. In addition, this hotel has also renovated the 140 year old
Heritage Banqueting Block retaining its colonial grandeur yet ensuring
up to date facilities. Taj Samudra also offers the largest number of
suites of any city hotel and these have been recently revamped too with
modern indulgences and enhanced opulence".
