Athletes from A. Ratnayake Central steal the limelight

Athletes from A. Ratnayake Central College Menikhinna won eight events to steal the limelight on the second day of Mobitel Relay Carnival yesterday at Sugathadasa Stadium, Colombo.

A Ratnayake Central College won the Under 16 (Girls) 4x800, Under 18 (Girls) 4x800, Under 20 (Girls) 4x800, Under 18 (boys) 4x800, Under 20 (boys) 4x800, Under 18 (Girls) 4x1500, Under 20 (Girls) 4x1500, Under 18 (boys) 4x1500 and Under 20 (boys) 4x1500 Relay events at the Mobitel Relay Carnival yesterday.

Two new meet records were established on the second day A. Ratnayake Central College relay team clocked 8:20.8 seconds in the Under 18 boys 4x800 metres relay and broke their previous record of 8:24.59 seconds.

St. Joseph’s Balika Maha Vidyalaya, Kegalle clocked 50.21 seconds in the Girls Under 20 4x100 relay event and broke the previous record of 50.96 of A. Ratnayake MMV, Walala.

Mobitel Relay Carnival is conducted by the Athletic Association of Sri Lanka together with Sri Lanka Schools Athletic Association and sponsored by Sri Lanka Telecom-Mobitel.

Chairman of Sri Lanka Telecom-Mobitel Leisha de Silva Chandrasena will be the Chief Guest of today’s closing ceremony.
