ICTA facilities for citizens registration

The Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) has taken steps to provide facilities for registration of citizens through the Nenasalas, the rural information technology centres. The registration of citizens is being implemented according to the State Defence Ministry’s regulations.

ICTA’s Chief Operating Officer Reshan Dewapura said that accordingly registration of citizens’ information is done free through the website www.citizens.lk Initially, the collection of information of all citizens in the Western Province is currently taking place according to the State Defence Ministry’s regulations.

The Defence Ministry has launched the collection of citizen data thus for the security of citizens and properties of the Western Province.

Accordingly, it is obligatory that all permanent and temporary residents of the Western Province submit their particulars.

(ICTA) said that the easiest method for this is to access the website www.citizens.lk, fill the relevant form and submit it through the website itself.

Therefore, facilities have now been provided for citizens to submit the information by using the internet for free at the (Nenasalas), the rural information technology centres, which have been set up under the “e-Sri Lanka” initiative.

Accordingly the operators of the Nenasalas set up in the Colombo, Gampaha and Kalutara districts will assist the citizens in these areas to submit their particulars to the Defence Ministry through the internet.
